Notes: Frances Benjamin Johnston posed gardeners performing gardening jobs to illustrate the popular poem, The Glory of the Garden, by Rudyard Kipling. She submitted the photographs to the magazine Country Life in America, which did not publish the series. Today it is not known how many photos the series had, but the Library has 5 scenes, including prints with publication crop marks.
