Summary: Reproduction of an 1863 poster urging African-Americans to fight for the Union during the Civil War. The posters reads, "Men of color! To arms! To arms! Now or never. This is our golden moment. The government of the United States calls for every able-bodied colored man to enter the army for three years' service and join in fighting the battles of liberty and Union. A mass meeting of colored men, will be held on Friday, July 17, at 8 o'clock, P.M., at Washington Hall South Camden, N.J., to promote recruiting colored troops for three years or the war. Frederick Douglass and other distinguished speakers, will address the meeting. Recruitment coordinated by the local Supervisory Committee for Recruiting Colored Regiments."
